  • Describe the process you went through to create your production. The process that we had to go through to produce the production we produced was. First, we had to come up with our idea which required brainstorming on paper as a group. Second, once we had our idea we created a storyboard and a script so it would be easy for us to bring our idea to a reality. Thirdly we then had to assign who is going to be which character in the production. Fourthly we started filming and made sure we had the appropriate equipment required for the production.

  • How did we come up with the original idea? We managed to come up with our idea because Diego said he wanted to do something around soccer after that the rest of the group decided that the idea was good and we all put our ideas in the main one. This allowed us to all enjoy the idea and make it so that the idea wasn’t just about playing soccer. By the end of our all-contributing idea, it was a great idea that had lots of different components brought into it.

  • Describe three obstacles or challenges that you encountered when creating your production. One of the three obstacles that we faced was the lessons that either one or more of us were away during multiple lessons so that put our group behind by many lessons. Obstacle number two was our footage was deleted during the process this set us back even further because we were already behind when missing lessons

  • What would you do differently next time? Next time I was to produce a film I would make sure that we save all the recorded film and make sure that we are in class as much as we can. The reason I would do this is so that we can have as much time as possible to edit and make the film much better than it already is.

  • Describe the final presentation. What do you think it mean and represented? I would describe our production as a fun and entertaining film that is meant to inspire people to try their hardest and follow their dreams. I think that the way we presented the film as new and innovative way. If you really wanted people to pay close attention and have

Hass letter to parliament

Dear Mr. Whitby:

I hope this email finds you well. My name is Tyson Bortolotti, and I am a year 8 student at All Saint’s College. I’m writing to you today to talk about Western Australia’s renewable energy. I have researched how we can improve renewable energy sources that Western Australia is already using and I would like to share my thoughts with you.

In 2019 the government spent 3.5 billion dollars installing rooftop solar panels in residential areas.  This is a great investment because it will reduce electricity costs to users and does not require extensive maintenance.

Solar doesn’t produce any greenhouse gasses making it environmentally friendly and after the initial installation cost there are zero fees. A large portion of Australian families are dual income homes meaning they both work during the day and then return to their homes as the sun goes down to begin using electricity hungry appliances such as washing machines, dishwashers, air conditioners and heaters etc therefore, they are using the majority of their power after the solar panel has stopped producing energy.

The inclusion of a battery/ energy storage in the home would make solar panel power a far more effective resource benefiting both the homeowner and more importantly the environment.

Education in the community of the benefits to include this in all homes is an important first step as it is one step closer to becoming a fully sustainable country.

Whilst the government has done a great job of implementing solar panels I now feel funding the installation of batteries is the next step forward.

Funding together with education would be beneficial for our community and environment.

Kind regards

Tyson Bortolotti

The project we have been working on was the coke and mentos experiment. We decided to use this experiment to demonstrate how change happens and what type of change it is.

We organised our group by every lesson making sure we all had something to do and if it wasn’t finished then it was their responsibility to finish it before the next lesson. We all gave input on what we thought would work and then we created our idea based on the most liked idea. If I was the repeat this activity I would try and work better as a group so that there is a more even spread of responsibility across the group.

Our group had very similar thoughts and ideas so they were little to no disagreements whatsoever. We did need to use any strategies to resolve any problems because there weren’t any. Something I would do to improve the work aspect of this task is to spend more time in the green room and make sure the script is good English/ makes sense.

We managed our time ok I would have liked to manage it a bit better so we weren’t as rushed and so we didn’t waste as many lessons as we did. Besides all that we managed to finish our project on time just not to the standard, I would have wanted. Something I would have improved if I got another chance is making sure that we were ready for the next lesson and didn’t have to do any at home.

Project X

Media production

The talking stage

We started thinking about what we could do, and it was nearing Halloween so we were speaking about our costumes and then I said we could do something to do with a dinosaur costume. Then the rest of the group agreed, and we started making our script and storyboard.

Getting ready to film

This planning document helped us get an understanding of what our advert should look like overall this also allowed us to continue our advert and connect the next scenes to what we already had. I think some things We could have planned better were the number of scenes we had made a storyboard for because if we had made more scenes it wouldn’t have been as confusing and making the script would have been easier.

The production stage

The equipment and software that our group used to record and edit our advertisement were adobe premiere pro which is the editing software. The recording equipment that we had used was a camera that the school media department had supplied for us.

The camera helped us out a lot because it instantly improved our quality of video and made it 10 times easier to record with different angles and equipment. One thing that we wouldn’t have been able to do without access to a proper camera was to transfer our footage to our computers so easily if we didn’t have a camera we would have had to send through email and possibly lose quality.

Somethings that worked out well for us was being able to use a movable tripod that allowed us to get moving shots without the camera shaking drastically. Something that didn’t go so well was relying on one person to bring in the prop because sometimes we would forget it and not be able to get the work we thought we could get done in that session. This also made us lose track of what footage we had recorded so there was missing footage.

I could have improved the use of technology by using different angles and different distances because that would have bought the viewers’ attention and then it would stay interesting throughout the whole ad.

Some things we could have done differently is to create more interesting bits of the film so the viewer stayed interested and transferred its happy feelings from the ad to the museum. Another thing we could have done better is dividing the workload out more evenly because I noticed when looking at the script some people were saying/ doing more than others.

Post production

The process we used to edit our advert was starting off by inserting all our clips and then putting them on a timeline in order of the script so that it is easier to insert add-on clips when needed. After that, we had to insert a dancing dinosaur with a green screen so having the clips in order really helps with that.

In premier pro the tools, we used were the cropping tool to shorten the clips so we only had the bits that were needed for the advert. Another tool we used to edit our advert was removing the green background from clips just to have the object in the video.

We hadn’t used any other programs because premier pro had all the functions we need to. But we had found our green screen clip on youtube. Premier pro was simple to use so it allowed our group to easily edit the clips without anything going missing or it looking messy and confusing.

We hadn’t needed to do anything differently since everything was right in front of us. In the future, if I was to do this again I would probably see if the clips I want actually existed because otherwise, I would say something was there when it actually wasn’t making the advert look rushed and unprofessional.

Final overview

The best aspect of our production is the humor it has in because it seems like we don’t know what we are talking about by saying there is a different dinosaur but it is the same dinosaurs doing the same thing as the last clip.

I think an area that we could improve on is the editing and making it seem more professional and like we know how to make a good advert. Something I had learned about making an advert is that it is more complicated than you think because there is a lot of aspects you have to think of when making an advert.
