Health social media reflection

Over the last couple of weeks, we have been filling out little booklets all about social media. At the beginning of the unit, I had an active Instagram, YouTube, Reddit, Discord and Xbox account.

Some keys things I learned after this unit are.

Empathy
Empathy is the ability to understand and be able to share feelings with someone. In our unit, we saw empathy where an animated bear showed empathy by comforting another animal in tears. They were acting as if they were humans and giving them human problems such as children getting bad marks at school. Instead of the bear saying “well at least your other son is a straight-A student”. Rather say something along the lines of “I’m so happy you’ve told me this”. I have shown empathy to someone in the past were after a basketball game he was a bit down after missing the game-winning shot. I comforted him and told him that it’s OK that he was down and that I have been there before.

Decision making

In our unit there was a time were a group of kids watched as social media influencer jumped off a high bridge. They wanted to try it out as they thought it was cool, but they noticed how high up they were from the ground. They tested out how high the jump was with a watermelon. They saw that the watermelon got destroyed and knew that if they did it they would end up like the watermelon. I have seen something before as sometimes trends on the internet occur and people want to do it, but they only later realize how dangerous it is.

I learned from the unit that if you have nothing nice to say online don’t say it. Seeing the rude comments Fatima said wasn’t nice. We also saw how in real life a girl in New South Wales killed herself after being bullied. I have said some rude things on the internet, but mainly to my friends as an inside joke between us, but I now learned that other people who see it can be offended.

I would like to change how much time I spend on social media, as I do spend quite a lot of time on it instead of doing something productive.

Water

Recently I had to walk approximately 60m whilst carrying a 15kg large jug of water. We did this task due to what is happening to Serah who has to make a combined 65-minute walk to and back from their nearest well twice a day!! She also has to go through steep hills and high tough hills and rough land. The water she drinks is usually dirty muddy contaminated water that makes her and her children ill. Serah early drinks much water and she can’t provide enough breast milk for her children. She has lost some of her children due to dirty contaminated water, but she has no choice, but to do this. So be grateful for living in the top 1 percent of people globally and getting accesses to clean safe water whenever you want.

Running Club

Running club has been tough and fun. From waking up early in the morning to the tough vigorous long jogs we do it is amazing. Seeing my friends early and getting healthier along with the food at the end of a running club is what makes running club amazing.

My about me post

Hi there!

I would like to tell you one thing about my self that may strengthen my relationship with you.

As I mentioned I love sports of basketball, but I already mentioned that in my last blog.(Go read it)

I love star wars and imaginative creative ideas that are out of this world. I would say I am pretty good at creative writing and that I love anything to do with the great subject of English.

About me

Welcome to my brand new portfolio at All Saints’ College. I’m Zaid and of the time that I write this, I am in year 7.

Some things that may help you to get to know me is my passion for playing basketball and also watching the NBA. We can have deep conversations that last for days about controversial topics in the NBA like who is the best player currently or we just shoot some hoops and play together. I dream to be a doctor one day and study dentistry or study to become an orthopedic surgeon. I have a loving family and currently, I’m living with my mum, dad, brother, and grandmother. Both my parents are doctors. My dad is a surgeon and my mum is a GP.

The things I have just listed are a brief summary of me. Thanks for listening.
