How we developed our design

I started by drawing different hybrid creatures such as a dog mixed with a bird, a horse combined with a bird etc. After choosing the design I wanted to do the most I then discussed what design I wanted to do with my partner, we decided to do the dog mixed with the bird all we had left to do was seek approval from Ms Elscot.

How we put together our design

The next step of our project was to draw an enlarged tracing of our hybrid creature, so Ms Brookland could transfer it onto 2 equal cardboard sides for us to tape together using a flexible cardboard roll. We started putting it together in around week 6 term 3 where all the challenges began. Taping the first side of our traced cardboard to the flexible cardboard was simple but putting the other traced side on top of the flexible cardboard, on the other hand, was a massive challenge we needed to push together the sides so we could tape the other side on.

Our Collaboration as a team-

My partner and I worked together in many different ways. While we were putting the cardboard together we took turns cutting the tape into pieces whilst the other partner stuck the cardboard together. When we were cutting out the shapes we both did different colours with the triangle shape cutter. The next step was glueing our cutout paper onto the pinata, one of us put the glue on and the other partner placed them neatly into place. The last part of our project that took collaboration was the glueing of the pom poms and lights we took turns glueing as it was a difficult and tiring task.

Our Problem-Solving-

The only problems we had was the taping of the second cardboard trace to the cardboard roll, it took us many tries to get it to stick but we ended up having to put a lot of weight on it and multiple layers of tape to hold it into place.

Time Organisation-

We organized our time great at the start but then we missed 4 lessons so my partner and I fell behind in our work. So ms Elscot gave us the opportunity to use our double period on a Tuesday for a few weeks to catch up on our work. It got us back on track to be able to finish a week before the illuminate festival for transition graduation.
