Year 8 Concrete Lego
The aim of this project was to create a mould out of pinkysil with lego. This came from the idea of brutalist art. I came across very many challenges but I overcame them.

Design Thinking Process
At the start of the term, we did research on brutalist art, we were told to start putting together some ideas for what we wanted our lego mould to look like. My lego design had lots of overhangs, so I put clay in all of the lego bottoms that were showing so that the pinkysil didn’t get stuck in them and it didn’t ruin my mould.

After Ms Elscot tested some moulds with the pinkysil she realised to get the lego out of the mould was to hard with the overhangs. So to adapt to this I removed all of the overhangs. We had to make our own box to pour the mould in this was probably the second hardest thing as we had to make it 0.5cm away from the lego and had to go above the lego.
To test that our box had no leaks or holes we poured water in them, lots of water escaped from my box so using lots of hot glue and tape I had done about 10 tests and finally with a massive overload of tape and hot glue there were no leaks what so ever. Once we had poured the water in for the final test we then had to measure how much of the water went into our mould then half that amount with pinkysil parts one and two.
After I mixed my pinkysil I covered my lego with it then we left it to sit, in the second lesson my mould was ready to be pulled out. Once we pulled our lego out of the pinkysil we then filled the mould up with the concrete to let it set. We did many lego moulds so we could create a lego concrete city.
