The Utopia project all started with the book called The Giver. This book was all about the perfect society and keeping things the same. We tried to replicate this in a better way during our project.

ASC CAPABILITIES

During the project, my team collaborated the software teams. We shared ideas using this platform while we weren’t at school. We had very effective communication because teams allowed us to share ideas. Though we had good communication and collaboration, we could have been a lot more organised. We should have made a list of what we should do after school. This led to some slight setbacks, but we have learned from these experiences. If we were to do this project again, we would make a list as soon as the project had begun.

The planning stages

Livability

The livability of our Utopia was increased by the amount of nature that is in our spheres. This was mainly because of the scene we chose on the co spaces which was covered in grass. The livability was also increased because we had our houses in a completely different sphere. The houses were also surrounding the park that was at the centre of the housing.

The Constitution

The constitution is a very important part of the Utopia because without it the residents could do anything they want and get away with it. Our constitution made sure that everyone got a fair trial and were punished if they did do the wrong thing. We gave everyone the basic rights that we get and deserve, including the right to vote, freedom of speech but no discriminating, the right to work and get quality education and much more. We had several sections to our constitution which helped classify all the rules and laws.

United Nations Global Goals

The global goals are arguably the most important part of this assignment; without the global goals, the project wouldn’t make sense. The Global Goals are a set of things that the UN want to achieve by 2030. These goals are directed at fixing the earth instead of destroying it as we currently are doing. We are on course to achieving some, but we still have a long way to go. In project utopia, we had to make ideas for the global goals and then get them accredited by the teacher/facilitator. Then we had to implement them into our society. My group got accredited in Quality Education, Good Health and Wellbeing and sustainable production and consumption. We had that everyone can be educated no matter what age they were. We had our health care upgraded every year to the best equipment available and we also would only farm fruits and vegetables that are in season.

Public Speaking

Public speaking is something i learned how to do well during the presentation day. When we practised speaking in front of the class I was slightly more nervous than during the presentation day. I learned that you had to keep eye contact with someone, for at least 2 seconds. This meant that i had to learn my speech mostly of by heart and I had most of it down. This meant that I was able to keep eye contact with someone and still know my speech for most of the times I looked at the parents/audience. I have developed my public speaking skill a lot during this short period of time but thi skill will be necessary for a long time to come.
