In the right set of circumstances, a chance was open to grow and improve my effective communication through the Dramatic Scene Group Task. This transpired because of the creation of our script and the performance on the day. Being away for multiple weeks, even though it was a setback, strengthened my use of this skill as I had to communicate with the group through technology, but this did come at a cost, affecting the final outcome. An example is when we had to discuss what subject we wanted to do in our performance. Some of these included ADHD, mental health, depiction of mentally challenged children etc., but ultimately, we integrated these subjects to make a single topic. Discussing times when we were free to work outside of school was a challenge too, as many of us had lots of extracurricular activities. It was harder for me as I was gone for an unexpected 3 weeks and affected the communication and limiting me through technology. I could barely communicate with my group members because of the condition I was in, proving how crucial communication is in group tasks. This made it harder for us to contribute to the group effort evenly as I was away and it was mainly, Rueben, Misaaq and Pacome who worked on the script, which is why it felt very “last minute” on the performance day for me. Costume and props were a problem because, as I was away for the majority of the assessment and not being able to communicate, I had to mainly improvise on the day. Ultimately, effective communication is essential for any kind of task, group or individual, because it applies to the real world compared to the other capabilities.
