The Global Goals and Our Community

The Global Goals - ASAP – A Sustainability Acceleration Project

One of The electives I have chosen this semester is Global Goals. In this course we will be working on a project to help with one of the UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). I have chosen it as I am very passionate about the environment and would like to help in any way I can.

The United Nations are an intergovernmental organisation dedicated to maintaining international peace, and the creators of the SDGs.

Sustainable development is the concept of fostering human development while sustaining natural environments.

The 17 SDGs are: No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Good Health And Well Being, Quality Education, Gender Equality, Clean Water And Sanitisation, Affordable And Clean Energy, Industry Innovation And Infrastructure, Reduced Inequalities, Sustainable Cities And Communities, Responsible Consumption And Production, Climate Action, Life Below Water, Life On Land, Peace Justice And Strong Institutions and Partnership For The Goals.

These goals will help develop less fortunate areas such as sub-Saharan Africa while still sustaining their environments.

So far most of these goals have had decent progress, although covid-19 has been a massive setback for many of them.

Some goals I think are relevant to All Saints’ specifically are: Gender Equality, Affordable And Clean Energy, Responsible Consumption And Production and Life On Land
