What is a role model?
A role model is someone that is looked to by others as an example to be imitated. Role models can be good or bad. A good role model is someone worthy of respect and someone with good and healthy beliefs, attitudes, is positive and enthusiastic about life, someone worthy of respect and lives life to the full. A bad role model is someone demonstrating unethical, unsupportive and unkind behaviours.

My Healthy Role Model: Spencer Barbosa
Spencer Barbosa is an 18 year old actor, entrepreneur and content creator. I came across her on Tik Tok where she shares quotes, inspiration, body positivity, motivation, life advice and support. She is a kind human with a lot of compassion for others and shows people that all bodies are beautiful.
What Behaviours Does She Demonstrate to Show That She is Healthy?
Spencer has many attributes that demonstrate to us that she is a healthy person. As I have seen many of Spencer’s videos I feel that she has consistently proven that she has the ability to support, encourage and help many people to feel confident in themselves and however they may look. She is a person that will try to make the best of any situation. Her desire to help others doesn’t get in the way of her own mental and physical health and it shows. She looks genuinely happy and content with her life and the way in which she has been living it.
What Does She Look Like?
Due to how Spencer’s life has unfolded I believe she is extremly aware of unhealthy bodies and knows how to take care of herself, resulting in her looking healthy. She has a healthy looking body (and I don’t mean she is super skinny) and her complexion makes her look happy and well looked after.
What Message Does She Promote?
Spencer promotes a very positive message to everyone. I feel she gives one of the most important messages out there which helps many people immensely with mental health. This message is body positivity. Body positivity is something many people struggle with and Spencer tries her best to help people feel more comfortable in their bodies.
Why Should People Look Up To Her as a Role Model?
There are countless reasons why people should look up to Spencer like her willingness to help people she has never met before feel happy with themselves and their appearance. Anyone wants to help their friends, family, people they know however, Spencer Barbosa has gone a step further and is helping people she may never meet and changing some people’s lives in unimaginable ways. She is also an inspiration due to how she treats others and and situation that comes upon her as she tries to have a positive mindset.
What Values Does She Demonstrate?
Spencer Barbosa demonstrates many admirable qualities and values. Some of these values include kindness, compassion, reliability and understanding qualities. I feel that she shows much kindness and compassion when she helps many people she doesn’t know feel confident. She gives many people a sense of reliability as they can watch her videos to help them and know that she wants to continue to do so. Additionally, I feel she is extremly understanding when people comment on any of her videos asking questions or wanting some advice.
My Unhealthy Role Model: Chris Brown
Chris Brown is 32 year old who has had many professions over the years including many things in the music industry, he acts, paints, is an entrepreneur and many others. His bad reputation is mostly caused by the incident in 2009 when he physically assaulted Rihanna and has got apparent anger issues and has got a reputation for physical violence.
What Behaviours Does He Demonstrate to Show That He is Unhealthy?
Chris Brown, on multiple occasions, has been accused of physical assault, anger issues, physical violence and drugging and raping a women on a yacht. These behaviours are unsafe, illegal and emotionally, physically and mentally hurtful to others. These behaviours are all unhealthy and are things that shouldn’t be admired, copied or followed.
What Does He Look Like?
Chris is someone that by his body you can tell he is healthy and fit however, due to the sheer volume of tattoos on his neck and legs, his nose piercings and his earrings some say it makes him look intimidating and scary. Others say his beard makes him look scruffy, unorganised and not clean.
What Message Does He Promote?
Chris Brown, as many would say, promotes physical violence as a way to express anger or any emotion. This is not a healthy habit to pick up as people should feel their emotions without hurting other people in the process. People should have certain feelings about situations in which they should process that situation through emotions not physically hurting someone else.
Do You Think People Should Look Up to Him as a Role Model?
He is a person of great talent however, not someone people should look up to. I don’t feel that he is someone worthy of respect at this current time due to his previous actions.
Is Everything You Read, See or Hear in The Media True?
The simple answer is no however sometimes there can be true things. A decent amount of the time the media sees something and makes assumptions. This is always an issue for the person that it is about as it will always be somewhere on the internet even if it is the complete opposite from the truth.
