On Friday 20th of November the year 7’s hosted a Xmas market in the senior school common. I was in a group with Emily Ji and Sophie Sheridan. We sold painted CDS. Which we completely sold out just before the market ended.

Christmas Interview: During the first interview our group had a mini argument with the name of the product but after that everything was smooth sailing. We did get turned down the first few times because we weren’t prepared enough but finally on the 3rd attempt we were approved. What I liked about the interview was that it gave us a mini experience of what it would be like in the real world. I also liked how strict it was because it set my group off in the right direction.

Creating: When it came to creating the product the most difficult part was collecting all the materials because the things we needed were out of stock. So instead I had to go out and buy the exact same things except the prices were alot more expensive. It was also hard to keep the focus on creating the designs because other people from different groups wanted to create some designs and we ended up in a shortage of CDs because of how many we wasted on the people who wanted to create some.

Advertisement: This part of the process was my least favorite because only one group member actually did it and wouldn’t let us help her. Other than that we did a spectacular job at analyzing the advertisement. The reason i say spectacular is that i thought I wouldn’t succeed in reaching my goal of getting a high achievement.

What went well?: In my opinion, I think that the interviews were the best part because it set my group off in the right direction and the advice Miss L gave us helped us reach our target of getting over $50 profit. Another part which was one of my favorites was creating the CDs because it was quite relaxing and I also got to know a few of my peers a little better.

What didn’t go well?: There was only one issue which was the advertisement because only one member of the group participated in designing and creating. Even though we had offered our help she denied it and said that she likes designing and creating. I found this quite unfair because Sophie and I wanted to help with the designs and theme.

What I would change?: One thing I would for sure change is the groups. Even though I was out into a good group I knew the people I was working with quite well and I wanted to use this project as an opportunity to connect with a few classmates that I barely know. I would also change the pricing to $3 because when we were selling our CD’s people were willing to pay much more money for the better designs.

Learning Area Connections: In digital ICT we created a spreadsheet to keep track of our loss, profit, etc. We were able to find rough estimates for our profit and budget loss. Another connection was English because we learned how to properly construct an advertisement. During HASS we learned about economics, profit and loss mainly. But in innovatED all the projects we had done throughout the year had led all the way up to the Christmas market.
