Year 9 English Self Reflection

During Year 9, I experienced changes in my academic marks, a mixture of success and failure, with lack of consistency. One of the largest and most influential ones was in the English course, after our term 3 novel essay, in which I received a low mark, due to the poor essay structure and how the essay didn’t answer the question. I brought this up with my English teacher, Ms McGiveron, and we spent some time after school to work on things that could help me improve in the future, like rewriting the essay as for feedback, practice and experience. This was a project that I worked on over the holidays, and I also spent a lot of time working on the next assessment, which was a composition of a narrative. Every morning I would wake up and get some work done on both, before I did anything else with my day. When term 4 came around, I handed both in, and saw much improvement with feedback. I felt content and satisfied with my achievement. From that point on, I took everything on with the same attitude that I had over the holidays and kept developing for whatever the future had for me.
