Reflection for WCE AFLW Representor
On a Monday lesson during term 2 this year, an AFLW West Coast Eagles player came in to teach and inform our class about how a balanced diet can benefit our performance and energy levels. In this lesson, the ALFW player taught us what to eat before, during and after training as well as how we can improve our diet on a daily basis. This lesson helped me improve my diet and my overall performance during training, games and sport in general.
Defensive Concepts
During our double practice periods and one skill period we built on our pervious knowledge of defensive concepts. The main defensive concept was 4v4 shell defense. 4v4 shell defense is a defensive drill where offensive players play around the arc, this is specifically used to teach how to defend and attack under certain constraints. These constraints can be when one team has an advantage and the other team is at a disadvantage .
How do I Perceive skill training and personal physicality
Skill training is always useful when you are trying to improve overall skills and abilities. Skill training in our semester one program usually runs on a wednesday double period and a Friday single period, this is when we do a varied range of drills and exercises to improve specific skills. Personal physicality as a whole is extremely useful for every sport you play, not just basketball. This can be detrimental when playing at higher more advanced levels. Term 1 we were given programs to improve skills and physicality, with the main purpose of getting better and the ultimate goal was us being able to create our own program.
Offensive concepts
During our four Specialist Basketball periods our class we specifically focused on creating space when moving foward on the court. Creating space is simply makes it harder to defend perimeter shooters, as well as makin it harder for defenders to stop dribble penetration as the space between the defense and offense is larger than usual.
Where to from here?
I think this semester of basketball helped me grasp a good understanding of basketball that could help me start to enjoy basketball more as a whole. I can also possibly go on further to enjoy basketball outside of school and to enjoy what term 2 I have left.
