Week 6 InnovatED lesson

On Tuesday in week 6 Olivia S, Jazz J, Emma D and myself started creating our innovatED project to help prevent using plastic in the world to save wild life and he earth, our ideas are bags, snack bags, toys and doggy poo bags and we need to make one out of fabric instead of plastic. Our Idea was to make simple but cute bags for people to use in their everyday life for shopping or simply just going out for lunch or to the park.

We are doing this so that we can help animals and marine life have a longer life span because plastic takes 1000’s of years! The build up of plastic is currently really bad and it can get blown out of land fill into the ocean and bushes. Native and non-native animals eat it not knowing that it can kill them.

Once we have finished our goal is to hopefully sell them in shops and stalls instead of people selling plastic bags because they are better for the environment because if they blow away or get thrown in the bin it only takes 25-40 years to break down which is way less than 1000 years. Our goal for doing this is to get rid of plastic bags all together and change them to fabric bags.

In our last lesson we started tie dying our fabric to see which worked best and we decided on the material Jazz used. We learned that next time we need to add more color to the water and let it sit in the elastic bands for 24 hours before taking them off and then ironing them out so that they soak in the dye and don’t run.
