Reflection on a skill
Learning the triple threat position has been a game-changer for my basketball skills. It’s a fundamental aspect of the game that has transformed the way I approach offense. It provides me with options to pass, shoot over the defence, or blow right past my defender. Firstly, mastering the triple threat has greatly improved my ability to read and react to defenders. By being able to dribble, pass, or shoot from this position, I’ve become a more versatile offensive player. This not only keeps defenders on their toes but also allows me to exploit any defensive weaknesses or create scoring opportunities for myself and my teammates.
Secondly, the triple threat has enhanced my ball-handling skills. Maintaining a low stance and a tight dribble in this position has made me more comfortable and confident in handling the ball under pressure. It’s not just about having options but also about being able to execute them effectively, such as being able to keep a tight control when dribbling the basketball, when blowing past defenders and driving into the keyway. This newfound skill has made me a more reliable ball-handler, especially when facing tight defence or double teams.
Lastly, the triple threat has improved my decision-making on the court. It has forced me to become more aware of my surroundings and develop better court vision. I now assess defensive players more efficiently and make quicker decisions based on their movements. Whether it’s driving to the basket, making a pass, or taking a shot, I feel more in control of the game and better equipped to make the right play. Overall, learning the triple threat has elevated my basketball skills to a higher level, making me a more well-rounded and effective player on the court.
Reflection on a course
The strapping course was one among the classes that was the most interesting for me and turned out to be really beneficial. While the entire course held value, the segment on strapping ankles was the most useful me. Throughout my life, I have always struggled with ankle injuries, in particular rolling my ankles. This strapping course is very helpful because now I am able to strap my ankles myself before games when I need it, as well as being able to strap my own ankles during games. I also have the ability to help my teammates with this new skill. This course also included strapping on fingers and thumbs. I found this interesting because I have never learnt how to properly strap fingers, and thumbs in particular. Prior to the course, I was only aware of the buddy method for finger strapping but now am familiar with many strapping techniques.
