In innovated this semester I chose to do circus; in circus I learned a lot about India and the different communities that live there. I got to understand the bad situation the poorer communities in India had to live with and their experiences. With this knowledge from 9 is Mine we helped Mr Green develop a circus routine that showed all of our skills whilst telling the story of the people in India.

We got to experiment with different skills and develop chosen skills further. When we were designated roles for the performance, I chose to not perform but instead choose the music and costumes that were to be worn. We took a long time choosing the appropriate music but ended up with the song ‘Hand Clap’ and for the performance and we chose the costumes to be black clothes.

As a class I think we collaborated very well as we all put our ideas together on how the performance should run and we each looked into one of the stories in greater detail and then put them together to make a very well thought out and good performance.

We were challenged in circus because we didn’t really have enough time to practice the performance, so it looked sloppy on stage. This could have been improved by having more rehearsal time before the day. Now I know to use the time more efficiently and work harder to understand the performance beforehand.
