In project X in term 4 I chose to do media because I loved the idea of filming and editing.
Post production Process
The very first thing we did when we walked into class was define surrealism and watched a couple videos about it. After that the same day we had to come up with an idea to pitch to the teacher. We came up with the idea of a person dreaming about getting stalked and multiple people just following him and staring at him. The next day we had to create/write our script so we knew what to say and what scenes we would need to film. After that we had to create the storyboard which helped us remember which and how many scenes we needed to film. Then we needed to film all our scenes in just 4 lessons.
During Production and Problems
This was a bit of a struggle due to not all of our group members staying on task. The technology that was used to create our production was a high quality camera, a laptop to edit and ourselves to actually create the film. Our film turned out quite well because all of us contributed into filming and editing. We also took quite long to film due to some of us not always staying on task and having some tech problems with the amount of charge with the camera. After the filming we had to edit the production, we did this as a group with some of us finding the music and some of us actually editing. One of the things that we didn’t do as most of the other groups did was use the green screen. We didn’t think we should do this because we are not the best at editing, which means that if we used the green screen, it wouldn’t look as realistic as we would like it to be.
Reflection
I think the best thing about our final project was how well our film flowed, it flowed perfectly and it looked amazing as the main character was running around. Next time we would try and film the scenes quicker which would give us more time to edit the film. This would benifit us by giving us more time to learn and actually do the editing. During this project I learnt how to collaborate with other people and adapt my character to fit the character in the film. Overall I give the final product a 4 out of 5 and I give the overall work ethic by everyone a 3 out of 5.
