What where the biggest things I learned while at the excursion
The biggest things I learnt were the dangers of not wearing a seatbelt, the dangers of driving in wet weather conditions and how dangerous a crash can really be. We saw in the reenactment of the scenario that the only guy who died in the car crash didn’t have a seatbelt on as well as the interview with the guy who lost his walking ability in the car crash. The dangers of driving in wet weather conditions was shown by the guy who retold his story about him loosing his legs in the crash as well as the death of his 3 other friends. The third big takeaway I saw is the real danger of a car crash, parts of the last two were involved in this and the main contributor were everyone’s stories telling us how it could change our lives
What one piece of advice I would pass on to young drivers
My main advice is to be careful who you get into a car with. The first example was the driver rushing to get to somewhere causing himself and 2 others in the car to be killed and the only survivor lost his legs. Another main advice is to keep your seatbelt on, if there is a crash and you don’t have your seatbelt on you have a much higher chance of death than keeping the seatbelt on.
My pledge
I promise that I will never drink, do drugs or go on my phone while driving as well as never going into my drunk friends car. I will take away the keys of my drunk friends. I am picking these things to make sure myself and my friends would always stay safe. I will stick to these commitments by always being careful at parties.
