Outline and of the SGD’s progress
The environmental orientated goals have progressed exponentially due to the restrictions brought in with the COVID – 19 pandemics. This has decreased the demand for transport with busses, planes, care, trains etc. This progression is due to the reduces emissions that would usually be produced by the vehicles.
What goals have relevance to all saint’s college?
As our project was entirely planned towards the all saint’s community as we have put new bins at the all saints campus. So, our goal has become relevant to only all saint’s college. Some other goals that may be relevant to all saint’s college are quality education, gender equality, industry innovation and infrastructure and more.
Our project
Empathize
The start of the design thinking process started with research on some products that are over consumed and produced and some that had string negative effects on the environment, we had to think about our target audience, and we had to think about on what scale we wanted to spread awareness for our goal.
Define
We then had to define our project we did this by finding one of the products we all had an interest in and came up with soft plastics. Becaue of their detrimental effect on the environment and how there are very few ways to currently recycle them.
Ideate
We the looked into ways with recycling soft plastics and found red cycle and came up with the idea to have our own bin. We also designed posters and put them in classrooms to spread awareness.
Prototype
We then began to get bins from the maintenance staff and chose our color and painted the bin in a color to make it stand out. We also cleaned the out and put the in-select locations in the school one in the junior school and one in the senior school.
Test
We put the bins out and they did get use after the first day they might be a quarter full. But they were not all soft plastics.
Mistakes
Some things that we could have changed would be our time management because there were some problems with painting the bins and so they ended up being put out a week and a half later than the proposed date. And we would work on ideas to make sure that cross-contamination is minimized.
