Contemporary Printmaking

During semester 2 of year 10, I have been able to discover many different printmaking techniques, including;

  • Potato printing
  • Frottage
  • Mono-prints
  • Etching
  • Lino printing

I was able to successfully create some clean prints and some of my favorite prints were from my etches and Lino prints. The designs I found to create as a print have been curated from the environment and experiences I had been inspired by during this period of creating, I love the way they’ve been executed through prints with designs suiting the style of printing.

Creating some of these print during this semester has presented successes and challenges throughout learning so many new techniques. Some of the many challenges during this was needing to problem solve for when prints wouldn’t come out perfect. I needed to find solutions and learn what I need to fix or do better, for instance during etching, we found that more pressure was needed so that the tool could create a deeper indent so that the ink could get through clearer.
