Hi Kim Giddens

I am commuting to you because of a common problem in the Melville community, homelessness and since the covid pandemic in Perth all the costs of everything have gone up witch more most people it is either pay off the house or eat. When I go out to walk my dog, I normally see people sleeping on mount henry bridge but that’s not all because just because there not on the street doesn’t mean people are living in their cars or in a tent on a campsite and that is why I want you to realize that there is homelessness in Perth quite a bit.

Are you aware that In December 2021 there were 1,001 people known to be living homeless in Perth and Fremantle and this is probably because the cost of living went up so much? People have said to me they’re homeless because of a reason they’re doing illegal there could be some people that had violence in their home, so they decided that they want to leave. Mental health is a big one they are dying on the streets being cold with mental illness that they most likely do not know about because they don’t have the money to go to the hospital which leads to my next point.

A hospital can be very expensive to go to and that is why the homeless are hesitant to go yes there is Medicare but still, they have to pay some sort of bill and it is not just the bill it is also how are they going to get there and if they are very sick what would to happen if they are too sick to even bother to go. I know this sounds a lot but all I really want is there to be a program that has free TAFE courses like bricklaying and nice clothes so they look good in the interview then they can return them so they can start getting money and get off the streets.

Thank you as you might see I love helping the homeless with my scout program and I would like their people to have a higher power that can speak up and take more attention to homelessness.Open document settingsOpen publish panel
