Hi, my name is Michael. Gerovich, in term three my group and I were asked to start on project Utopia. I was in project Utopia with my classmates Mia, Ashton, and Autumn. Early in the term we went on a little excursion to the Fremantle port and took the photos below. We were challenged with lots of ideas. We asked questions about whether we should have some form of transportation, an aqua park or a marine rehabilitation centre.

My group and I wanted to help all animals in the water near Fremantle. We discussed with many professionals such as Chandra Sundareswaran, Jason Pitman, Brad Pettitt former mayor of Fremantle to help us design the marine rehabilitation centre more sustainably. We wanted our marine rehabilitation to be sustainable because the project agrees with global goals. My group and I work on the two global goals. Life below water and sustainable energy by putting many solar panels on the roof of the marine rehabilitation centre. With life below water UN Global Goals 14, we knew that we couldn’t do it all with just one rehabilitation. Global goals have been trying to make the world more liveable so that the next generation of people don’t have to try to fix anything we did wrong in this generation.

Why Did We Do The Project And Process

At the start of the third term, my fellow classmates and I were challenged with a real-life project. (How can we redesign the port of Fremantle) Our group came up with ideas like electric trams, sky carts and golf carts. We started thinking of an aqua park in the port, but we didn’t really like that idea although it would be fun. Fremantle is not the best place to put a water park because we didn’t want to make the new and old Fremantle. Fremantle is near the water and the people love the water so we thought we could do a marine rehabilitation centre.  This would be on the open ocean side so we can obtain the freshwater from the ocean to refill the fish tanks. Our process was very organized as this project was a real-life project, so we got going straight away we had some issues as we forgot to do a draft for the vision board below. We needed to think fast about how do we fix this so we got a new vision board started making it again started staying after school and started finishing the vision board.

Research and Denison making

We had to research all things such as. Cost of all the equipment needed to create the centre, what mental illnesses fish can have, other locations that are creating marine wildlife education centres and what makes them special and what attracts people to them and that’s just some of them. We decided to do lots of them because when we are doing our speech and we get asked questions we can go back to our research and tell them. Denison making, we had lots to ether do transportation like trams golf carts and sky carts, an aqua park in the Fremantle Port and the last one was a marine rehabilitation centre which we thought was the best because we didn’t think anyone would do it and we could help all animals in the water near Fremantle so water can be healthy.

Overall, I thought this project was very fun to do because we got to go on little excursions to the Fremantle Port and that it was a real-life project as before any of that we would be making up a nonreal life product that would never be built so that is why I was so happy to find out we have a real-life project. The project was very challenging because we needed to make something that people would like and enjoy so that was it we did the speech to all the parents.
