Languages have always been a really important part of my life. The ability to learn languages is a crucial skill to have, especially living in a world where communication is one of the building blocks of how society runs. Learning different languages has also given me insight into other cultures. Currently, I am bilingual speaking English and my parent’s hometown language Pashto. I have grown up to also learn how to read fluently Arabic.

Languages I learn

Since I was in year 2 (7 years old) I have been learning Italian. I have been learning this language for many years now and my hope is to expand my knowledge in this language. One special award I got for Italian was placing in the top 2% of competitors around the world in the gold award for the language championships 2021. Also in years 2-6, I started taking after-school Mandarin classes. Since then, I have taken the YCT (Youth Chinese test) which is an exam that tests your understanding of reading and listening to Mandarin and has passed both level 1 and 2 exams.
