Grey water is wastewater from plumbing systems such as hand basins, washing machines, showers, and baths. When handled properly grey water can be safely used in your gardens. Grey water can be pumped back into your washing machine or the grey water can be used to water your gardens. Using black water from toilets or your kitchen sink is very unsafe. Blackwater’ is water that has come in contact with toilet wastes. Blackwater has to be treated and disinfected before it can be reused. You should always use ‘low risk’ greywater your irrigation system should divert greywater from low-risk sources, such as the laundry rinse cycle, bath and shower. Grey water can be pumped back into your washing machine or the grey water can be used to water your gardens.
