My Project Utopia Reflection

Capabilities

The capabilities wheel

What is Project Utopia?

Well, at the start of the year we were introduced to the project and we were told that the Fremantle port would be moving. We were given the challenge to re-design the port, adding housing, retail, and recreation areas. From there we did more research about the port and its history, we even visited it. Then we were put in groups and we started making more detailed plans about the re-design. We eventually created vision boards with the groups of our ideas and displayed them on grandparents day. After all this the project was not over, we had to work as a class and create one final design, combining all of our ideas together to create a model of the port.

Our class model plan

What capabilities did we use in project Utopia?

We had to use Collaboration, Effective communication, and resilience throughout the whole process. Collaboration was one of the main capabilities because we were put into groups and challenged to work with new people. We used Effective communication when sharing our ideas with our group or the class. We used Resilience to bounce back when our ideas didn’t work out.

Collaboration

Our class model plan

We had to collaborate in almost every part of the project such as… Creating the vision boards, Creating the final class map, Planning for our class map, Creating co-spaces, Writing our speeches, and Presenting to the class.

Effective communication

My group presenting

We had to use effective communication in the project when… Creating our vision boards, Working with our partners to develop co-spaces, Creating the final class map, Planning for our class map and vision boards, Putting our speeches together, and Presenting to the class.

Resilience

My group’s map

We had to use resilience in many parts of the project such as… When an idea didn’t work out When receiving and applying feedback from the teacher for things, such as our group’s map or vision board, and Working with our group to create our vision boards.
