RAC excursion

What were the biggest things you learned while at the RACbstreetsmart excursion? Β
The biggest things I learned from the RACbstreetsmart was to always be responsible in the car because one small wrong move can completely change your life. I learnt to never distract the driver because even sitting in the backseat and being disturbing could cause you to have a fatal crash or someone else to die. I wouldn’t want to carry that guilt with me for the rest of my life. I also learnt that you cant believe that things won’t happen to you and can happen to anyone. I learnt how traumatic a car crash can actually be and it not only affects the victims but everyone else surrounding them.

What one piece of advice would you pass on to young drivers above all else? Why?

I would tell them to be cautious and not be overconfident because there are always dangers on the road. I would give this advice because as young drivers we are more oblivious to the risk of driving under the influence and don’t know the real consequences we may have for the rest of our lives.

Write down a pledge that you will commit to when you start driving. Why did you pick these things to commit to? How will you stick to these commitments?

I will always make sure I never get in the car with someone under the influence and find a safe way for them to get home too. Make sure my car is always in a good condition Drive under or on the speed limit according to weather conditions I picked these things to commit to because I feel like they are simple mistakes I can avoid and will reduce my chances of being in an accident or having fatal injuries. I will commit to these things by going back to them every month to remind myself of what I have committed myself too. I pledge to always drive safely and responsibly, obeying traffic laws and regulations. I will never drive over the recommended blood alcohol levels and never under the influence of drugs.
