InnovatED RAAFA Project

In InnovatED term 2 we had a range of problems to choose from. After choosing a project we would like to do, we had to fill in a form to tell the teachers why we should do this project and why we would be the right person to do this. The problem I chose was the RAAFA project. Some of RAAFA’s residents are unable to get food from one of two cafes on the campus so we had to design some sort of buggy or cart to transport the food, keeping in mind that the food had to stay warm or cold depending on what the food was. The food also had to be served nicely. At the moment, the resident’s food is delivered in plastic takeaway containers and therefore is squished into these containers which isn’t very appealing. We then had to explain to Miss Shaw why we should be the ones to pitch our idea to Carina, the RAAFA representative. To be able to do a project like this you need to have empathy. We had the oppurtunity to go to the RAAFA campus which was a very useful experience because we were actually able to see what the problem was just by walking around the campus. We were able to work on this at school as well as at home if needed. The most important thing I learnt from doing this project is that helping organisations like RAAFA is very important because sometimes the organisation is unable to do things without help and most people who work for RAAFA can’t fix this problem themselves because they don’t have the time or resources.
