INSPIRATION

All the groups read out different stories to choose from. In the end my group and a few more groups chose to do Baba Yaga. During the making of the script, my group chose to look at different kinds of kid’s version of the story which made it easier to make a script about and perform the story.

ORGANIZATION

My group and I were organized throughout the entire process of our drama task. We had our script ready a week before it was due and when we got started on our shadow puppets, we left them in one of our lockers so they were safe, instead of leaving them in the box where they could get recked or accidentally stolen from another class.

CRITICAL THINKING

My group and I analysed different kid versions of the story Baba Yaga and tested and created our own very similar version. We worked through the sequence of the story, so it made sense to the viewers and was easy to narrate and puppet.

COMMUNICATION

During the process, my group was able to get everything done in class which meant we didn’t need to communicate about our task outside of our drama class. If we needed to communicate if a member wasn’t here, we would talk to them on teams, but if they weren’t responding it would be ok because we all knew what to do anyway.

ISSUES

My group didn’t have any problems, in the beginning, we had the script done early, so we were able to work on our paper puppets for more time. Some puppets kept falling apart which led to us either needing to remake the shadow puppet or sticky tape the parts back together.

LEADERSHIP AND RESILLIENCE

I think everyone in my group showed both good leadership skills and resilience throughout the whole process of the task.

WHAT I WOULD DO DIFFERENTLY

My group had a lot of time, we also wasted some of that time when people were away because we felt it was ok because we did have enough time, but I do think we should’ve used that time better. I would also like to add music to our performance’s background.

LEARNER AGENCY

Year 8 provides freedom and diving deeper into finding knowledge for yourself. You are needed to source information to learn for yourself, I was required to work harder to reach the goals I wanted to achieve. English allowed me to improve based on my mistakes, I looked back on my feedback, and I tried to improve my work. I saw my grade as feedback, it taught me what I needed to work on. I found that having the courage to ask questions was helpful and Mr. Gatti provided me with the assistance that I needed. Having the courage to learn from my mistakes was hard I didn’t start taking them as feedback until we got more into the year which is when I decided I needed to take them into consideration as feedback to help my future assessments, which is when I stated to improve a bit more

COLLABORATIVE SKILLS

Collaboration is a skill used throughout life. Year 8 English provided multiple opportunities for collaboration. Task 3 included the most collaboration in this program it allowed us to improve our collaborative skills by making a short film based on the short story that we created in task 2. To have a well-finished product, all group members need to be involved, the short film was my favorite task to do, it allowed students to share ideas and collaborate during the making of the script and the making of the film, and while doing this I was able to still have a lot of fun. Collaboration is putting yourself forward to help your group and sharing your ideas while listening to others. All different people have different needs some need more encouragement than others. Being a good team member is helping people express their ideas to the group. Collaboration Allows me to build my knowledge, bounce my ideas off to others, and learn from mistakes together. Collaboration takes courage, it’s easier to work on your own but if you do you won’t experience being wrong and learning from others. This year has taught me to work as a group and expand my knowledge by learning from others and group collaboration is an awesome way to do exactly this. Collaboration made me more confident to express my feeling and ideas to my peers.
