A Recent Commitment…

While I have been involved in the house council for many years, currently one of the most meaningful opportunities I have been able to commit myself to this year has been peer support. If only I had a transcript of the conversations I have with my parents after a peer support session, it would be axiomatic how much I care for those children. I come prepared to every meeting and early to every peer support session. I am always prepared, having read all information and instructions often printing out information for other groups and always my own. I am always volunteering to set up and collect equipment, as well as staying back to pack up and return all materials used. I had made it my goal to know every child’s name and one thing about them before peer support was over and I can say that I am extremely close to achieving this goal. I go out of my way to talk to as many students as possible while they are waiting before sessions start, as well as when I see them around the college. I make sure to stay late during meetings for peer support to pitch my ideas to my peer support leaders and field them problems and viable solutions when I see an issue that could arise.
