Media Advertisement

Media Advertisement

Beginning:

For term 4 in ProjectX, my final rotation was Media. In Media we got into groups and decided upon a product or goods and services to advertise. My group members are: Ananya, Nicola, Sue-Ning and I, we decided to do goods and services. We did a Baby Sitting business called “The Sitters Of Babies”. We decided upon this idea by brainstorming all the possible ideas that we could do that was creative and manageable to do within the time frame.

Skills

During the time period, my group achieved many skills on how to create a advertisement.

Some of the skills that have been achieved are:

  • How to use a camera
  • How to use a microphone
  • How to connect a camera to a tripod
  • All the recording sound affects
  • How to edit
  • And more practice about how to use Teams

These skills can be used in the everyday life, especially during school. As media is a subject at school, remembering how to function these skills will be useful.

Challenges:

While producing the advertisement I encountered 3 difficulties.

  1. Filming angles, during class there were multiple angles to learn. Each angle presented a different meaning, such as how powerful they are just based on the angle of the camera.
  2. The noise, since we were recording within school and during school hours. Where ever we recorded there would be people walking and having loud discussions. To manage we had to perfectly time it.
  3. Editing, since it was an advertisement we had to include wording such as the title and company name. This was difficult as some parts had to be added and excluded.

What Would I do Differently:

If I were given the chance to redo this project, next time I would really think about the angles that I could use within the advertisement. I would redo this because this is an important part filming and what the advertisement is about.

Story Board:

This is the story board my group drew about how the advertisement would be lay out.

Christmas Market Reflection

What is the Christmas Market About?

The Christmas Market is about how to manage a business in teams. My group members are: Shola, Grace C and I. Within the time period of 4-5 weeks, we had to produce products within the budget of $30.00 to sell during lunch at the Christmas Market. My group’s market name was Tote Bags 4 You, and our product that we sold was hand painted tote bags.

The main idea of this project is to improve and learn more about businesses in the real world. To figure out the final idea for the Christmas Market, we had to brainstorm 25 ideas and research a couple of them.

Steps:

  1. Get into groups of 2-3
  2. Brainstorm ideas
  3. Research ideas
  4. Create a presentation and get approved
  5. Receive $30.00
  6. Start producing the products
  7. Sell products

Difficulties:

Some of the difficulties my group faced were the stall location. On the Christmas Market day, my stall was located outside the canteen near the bins. It was a windy and rainy day, but luckily my stall was under covers. Most of the product flew off the table, making it hard to keep on the table and hard to sell them as the bags kept folding not presenting the logo designs.

Successes:

  • My group managed to finish all the products in time for the Christmas Market to take place. Within the time period we finished painting all the tote bags.
  • Having friendly small talk with customers
  • Made profit of $17.00
  • Being able to pay back the school loan of $30.00

Budget:

Out of the total budget we received of $30.00, my group spent $29.40. Each individual product cost $4.25 to produce.
