Love:

To me, love is not only about caring for those around me like my family and friends, but also about loving myself. Without loving yourself, how are you supposed to live your most meaningful life? Well, I believe love is significant because it gives you joy, makes you feel connected to your family and friends, as well as makes you feel connected. This is because it creates the feeling of not being alone. This is why love is such an incredibly valuable quality for me.

Teamwork:

I think teamwork is a critical quality for me because sometimes working as a team can solve many issues and problems that arise. This is why in Basketball it is vital that we work together to win because sometimes one person cant do it all alone. Like the Quote by Michael Jordan “Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships”. Another example is when you have a school project, you are able to express both or multiple ideas because sometimes people see things differently from others. This is why teamwork is important.

Courage:

Having courage is like opening something new. Courage is the ability to try or do things out of your comfort zone. For example, if you stick to what you know, how could you find out that you like tennis if you never tried, if you love writing stories if you never tried, how are you supposed to live and learn if you stay in your comfort zone? “to learn something new, you need to try new things and not be afraid to be wrong”.

demonstrate to show that they are healthy?

Dylan Alcott represents many different values like integrity, respect, responsibility, fairness and safety. He strives to play and work his hardest and also strives to help and inspire young Aussies who struggle to achieve their dreams because they have a disability. He is always upbeat, happy to talk, and very generous. He also aims to change people’s minds about disabilities.

What do they look like? Are they healthy? How
do you know?

Dylan Alcott has a disability in his spine and it’s called paraplegic. He is very upbeat and very generous. All over the internet, Dylan Alcott has many positive websites and he is very popular. He is a true Aussie and is always a true role model to others. His Behaviour on the tennis court is the same off the court too. What I mean by this is that he is focused when he needs to be but is always having a good time. He is a genuine person and doe not put his fame over others. This is how I know he is a healthy role model. 

What message does this person promote? Why
is it inspiring and healthy?

Dylan Alcott inspires many young Aussies with disabilities and strives to help them when they struggle to achieve their dreams. He also promotes many values on and off the court. These values are integrity, respect, responsibility, fairness and safety. This inspires me and many other people because he is different to the “normal” people but he doesn’t care about what people think about him. He continually tries to change people’s minds about disabilities and this is one of the biggest things about him.

Why should young people look up to this
person as a role model?

Because he wants to change everyone’s mind about people with disabilities because it’s okay to have one. He strives to do this and he is changing the mind of the whole world. Because of this many children do look up to him and even adults do too. This is also one of the reasons I think Dylan Alcott got Australian of the Year for 2022.

Thinking back to your House of Values activity,
what values does this person demonstrate?

As far as I am concerned, Dylan Alcott represents all of the values I have within my House of Values and even more that I have not included there. Some of the other values that I think are important are humility, perseverance, and sportsmanship. He demonstrates these values in everyday life and I believe this is all because of his background and disability. Respect for himself and for others, courage to be himself, and teamwork with the people around him are all qualities he possesses.

What behaviours does this person demonstrate to show that they are unhealthy?

It is unhealthy to look to Kim Kardashian as a role model because she expects people to be flawless and strive for perfection. Nevertheless, she does not understand that not everyone is born with all the money in the world. Among her behaviours is taking a lot of selfies and posting them on social media. The pictures are of her showing off her body. As a result, young women get the idea that their bodies aren’t pretty and start to compare themselves. In the process, they start to believe that they don’t have the most expensive/highest quality makeup or the latest lip gloss. As a result of the social media pressure of Kim K.

What do they look like? Do they look
unhealthy? How do you know?

Kim K looks “perfect”. She has a way of making people think she is flawless, especially young women. But people don’t understand how much she changed her body and added to it in order to become what she is now. Her body has undergone lots of plastic surgery. It is unhealthy because people believe that she was born this way when that isn’t the case. Some young women, wanting to become like her, believed and compared themselves to her “beauty.” This is unhealthy because people grow up feeling self-conscious about themselves or thinking they won’t be loved because of their looks. Kim has influenced them to feel they should be “perfect”.

What message does this celebrity promote?
Why is it unhealthy?

In the course of her company, Kim promotes a lot of messages that are geared toward female entrepreneurs. Among the advice she gives is to “get up and work” and to stay away from people who are unwilling to put in the effort. To convey such a message may be a bit unhealthy, as sometimes people cannot find work in their area because there is no employment at all. Additionally, there are those who are handicapped, which further restricts their options. Because of how she expressed herself, a lot of people misunderstood her message or mistook it for an offensive statement.   

Do you think young people should look up to
this person as a role model? Why or why not?

As a matter of opinion, I believe that they shouldn’t do that since they might end up comparing themselves to her and grow up feeling uncomfortable about the way they look. Also, in addition to that, I believe they should not do it since she promotes messages in the world that could be offensive, especially to young people, and that is by no means acceptable. She is well known, so people believe that she is a role model, however, this is incorrect. Considering all of these factors, I think she wouldn’t be a good choice for a role model due to the reasons I mentioned earlier.

Is everything you hear, read or see in the media true?

Regarding Kim K, I think sometimes things are made up, but at the same time, some of the things are real too. According to the media, many articles are written so that readers will believe that the media is correct and this truly happened. But in this case, many opinions can be biased. The majority of what we know about Kim K is based on what she has said or what she has done. Journalists strive to uncover the truth, but it is possible that they are not always accurate. The moral of the story is that you cannot believe everything you hear, see, or read in the media.
