All About Me (in Chinese)

In Term 1 of Chinese, we have learnt the basics of writing and speaking Chinese. Mrs Tan (our teacher) taught us some important ways of introducing yourself. You begin with my name is, which in Mandarin is wo jiao. Wo meaning my or I and jiao meaning name, then the last building block is my name. The whole sentence for my name is Wo Jiao Gianni. Along with introducing ourselves, Mrs Tan has taught us a variety of different ways to continue the conversation, such as age ( Wo shi <Insert age> sui), our birthday (<insert day> ri <insert number of the month you were born in> yue). Mrs Tan also taught us some measure words, the technique we use is number+measure word+noun, measured we learnt were ge, kou, zhi and tiao. Ge is used when describing the number of siblings you have, kou issue when describing the number of people in your family, zhi is used to describe animals with legs (e.g. cats, dogs, birds etc.) and finally, tiao is used for describing animals with long thin bodies (e.g snakes and fish)
