Vision Board Reflection

Introduction

One Thursday during AMP, two town planners came to ASC to talk to us about the movement of the Fremantle Port to Kwinana. This means the land the port is using now will be free by 2032, ad the port slowly transitions to Kwinana. Our task in groups of 3 or 4 was to create ideas for the new Fremantle and present them on a vision board. The vision board was supposed to have many photos that helped get our idea across to the people listening. We first presented our vision board to our Grandparents’ on Grandparents’ day.

What problems did you solve along the way?

The main problem was making sure everyone liked the idea and it suited them. We have to think about what we placed in the area and if people of all ages, genders and cultures would use it, for example, we couldn’t have a massive waterpark and no cafes, because it would not suit the elderly. Other problems were as simple as using our time wisely and ensuring we put enough effort and detail into our work and descriptions.

How did I contribute to your group’s roles?

I focussed mainly on the question ‘who will live there and what kind of housing will there be?’. When presenting I shared our ideas for housing, cultural heritage and energy.
