Year 7 Project Utopia

In InnovatEd we were given the task to re-design the Fremantle Port. However this wasn’t a short process it started way back in Term 2

English – THE GIVER

We read the Lois Lowry classic, “The giver” in English. This book is about a boy called Jonas who lives in a community where he is free of sadness. However, this perfect world (utopia) turns into an unperfect world (dystopia).

HASS – LIVEABILITY

In HASS we learnt about the importance of livability. Liveability is the idea of a place being liveable, not only currently but years into the future. We had to think about renewable energy, environmental decisions, transport and other important aspects of livability.

INTRODUCTION TO THE PROJECT

We were introduced to this project in InnovatEd and even had some expert city planners come in to tell us about Fremantle and what we need to keep and change. Once we finalised our ideas we made a vision board containing our different ideas.

ENGLISH – Pitch

In English, we learnt how to write a pitch that we would present to our grandparents and friends.

This project helped me understand the world more and how innovation and city planning works.
