Health Road Safety Campaign

What were the biggest things I learnt while completing this task?

Before completing this assessment, I was aware of the risks of distracted driving. But I have now learnt about the underlying dangers of simply picking up a text. Even taking your eyes off the road for a split second can cause a crash. While completing this assessment I have also learnt about what can happen if you get into a car accident. It is almost rare for people to survive these accidents now days and if you do the injuries you can face are often beyond repair.

What is one piece of information you would pass onto younger drivers? Why?

I would tell younger drivers that it may seem like it doesn’t matter, but it isn’t worth risking seeing a text to dying in a car crash. I understand that in the moment it seems like it won’t matter, but it is so important that younger people understand that even taking your eyes off the road for 1 second can cause a disaster. Or even choosing a new song will take your eyes off the road and possibly cause a major accident.

A pledge I will commit to when I start driving:

I will never drink and drive.

I will never use my phone while driving.

I will never be distracted while driving.

When I drive my eyes will always be on the road and I will always be focused.

Why did I choose these things to stick to and how will I commit to them?

I chose these aspects of driving because of how important they are. Each thing I have mentioned is an essential part of staying safe when driving. I will stick to these commitments by always remembering what can happen if I don’t and the risks of distracted driving.
