The earthquake project is a task where we were assigned to create a tower made out of spaghetti and blue-tack that can withstand a simulated earthquake. This tower had to be 60cm tall and within the budget of 60 dollars. Every 10cm of spaghetti was 1 dollar and each gram of blue-tack was 1 dollar. I believe our group did very well and we worked efficiently as a team and it help us produce an amazing end result,

This was our first design of the spaghetti tower (Diagram above). We had researched the best designs and we found that the triangular shape of the tower would be the most stable. We calculated the the cost and made sure it followed all the rules and met the requirements provided by the teacher.
This was our 1st prototype (Photo Above). There were some issue with it though. During the construction phase, we had snapped some of the spaghetti causing us to go over budget by 78 cents and in the end we had a more unstable building. After this we tested in on the earthquake simulator
This was the simulated earthquake the tower withstood on the first test. The tower withstood the horizontal shakes but failed when the shakes went more vertical. We took this into consideration when making the second prototype.
This was our final prototype. We had made the base larger to support the vertical shaking. This was a great decision as our structure shook less during our second trail. We were also very careful making the tower to insure there would not be any weak points in our tower that could hinder the stability of it. We also didn’t go over budget since we had made no errors in our second prototype which gave us enough money to increase the size of the base. Our final tower was 65cm tall and 27cm wide

During the project my teammates and I work very efficiently. We always kept on schedule and helped each other with different tasks. We also always kept each other in the loop and we never left anyone behind. We always assigned each other with task to effectively complete the project as a team. We solved issues together and in result we created a tower that could withstand a mini earthquake.

In the end I believe we did very well as a team and we completed the task given by our teacher well. Our teamwork was amazing and I couldn’t have asked for a better team. Our final structure was stable and we had perfected the tower to a T. I have learnt many valuable lessons from this task like teamwork, communication and problem solving. This was a amazing task and definitely a valuable life lesson
