STEM in Sport Reflection

This year in term 4 Innovat[ED] my group of myself, Luke and Jack looked at the effect of good and bad technique on the distance of kicking an AFL ball. STEM is used in a variety of different fields including sports study and it stands for Science, Technologies, Engineering and Maths. We worked hard through the whole project and got the results we needed. With our normal technique we achieved scores of 41 for Jack, 33 for Luke and 42 for me. We then looked at more experienced players that have the skill of big kicks such as Patrick Dangerfield to see what we could improve. We then went back and changed our technique by adding a hop-step, a faster approach to the line and fixed our trajectory allowing us to add to our previous distance. Jack added a metre to get to 42, I added a metre to get to 43 and Luke added 3 metres to get to 36 metres.
