The achievement that I am excited and proud of is my leadership role in the House Council for O’Connor. It was a simple process as I showed interest in the position already, and all I had to do was to fill out a form, and then I was selected for the role. This leadership role was a massive step forward for me as an individual, as I was a timid child when I was younger. I used to find it hard to talk to big audiences, but taking this position has severely impacted my public speaking abilities in a positive way as it helped me gain confidence. Mr Beath (O’Connor Head of House) and Ms Anderson (Director of Senior School) gave me a position in the House Council. This process took not long; I was given the position after a week. The process I followed to become part of the House Council was pretty simple, as I had to fill out a form. Then I got an email from Ms Anderson (Director of Senior School) saying I succeeded in my House Council position. With my role in the House Council, I felt proud of myself for overcoming a challenging milestone: gaining the courage and confidence to speak in front of a group of people. I was also ready and excited to state my opinions and hopefully implement them into the House to make AMP and House Meetings more fun and tailored to O’Connor. From here, I would like to sign up for more public speaking activities and more leadership opportunities that my school offers me in the future to maximise my confidence and ability to speak publicly.
