Illuminate Media Film Reflection

Describe the process you went through to create your production.

My group had to do the whole planning process without me because I had an extended holiday. After all, I went to India for my cousin’s wedding. But, while I was on holiday, I couldn’t contact them as the server was not letting me do so. So, after I returned, I was confused because I didn’t even have a group. So, I got put in Will’s group, and they explained their already completed storyboard and script. And because I came late, I didn’t get a character because then my team would have to change the whole script and storyboard, so I just took up the role of the shadow monster and the role of filming the film. Although I wasn’t here for most of the production planning, I might know the general filmmaking process.

  1. Find a capable group
  2. Brainstorm
  3. Create Storyboard
  4. Create Script
  5. Start Filming
  6. Edit
  7. Get Feedback
  8. Edit

How did you come up with the original idea?

I am unsure how we came up with the original idea because, as I said earlier, I was on an extended vacation when my group came up with the idea. Although I am not entirely sure, I expected them to develop the original idea based on the theme inspired by illumination or a light bulb moment.

Describe three obstacles or challenges that you encountered when creating your production.

The first obstacle I encountered was that I came in very blank, and I didn’t know what I was doing because I couldn’t communicate with my peers and my group and see what I had to do. Another obstacle I faced when creating the product was probably learning to use the camera and all the different tools attached to the camera to make the shot look better. I also had the challenge of learning the script and the film’s main idea.

What would you do differently next time?

Maybe next time, I will not go on vacation for too long, and if I do, then I will try and communicate with my friends to make sure that I know what to do when I come back to class and to make sure that I am on the same page as the rest of my group. I would also try and contribute more at the beginning of the planning process because I felt like I didn’t do anything to help with the planning of the video, and this was because of the vacation.

Describe the final presentation. What do you think it meant and represented?

I think the final presentation was executed in a very clever but different way because it confused me and many other people because of the multiple screens showing at once and then the smoke. I think this presentation’s idea was to ensure that the audience would not focus on one film at once and you would get so much information at once, which made the mind misted, and the mist in the room represented the confusion in the mind of the audience.
