Not too long ago was the senior school athletics carnival. I participated in a few events including the relays that were delayed because of bad weather. The Year 7 relays were held through recess and it was the first time that I had done a relay that is continued in a circle. I have only ever done relays that go back and forth on a 100m track, so this was new to me. The only practice I got was a few minutes before the event when we used a baton to practice handing it over to the next person. The rest of my team helped me to quickly learn how to do it.  Luckily I was running first so I did not need to learn how to grab the baton, just how to past it. I would have definitely needed more practice but I know I wasn’t the only one that has never done this before. I think I was more focusing on the baton and not the running but it was fun. I was also surprised by how many people came to watch the relays to cheer on.
