This is an issue for younger people as they are most likely to use their phone now while they are driving. Younger people are becoming more connected to their phones and this is impacting how much younger people use their phone with 94% of people from 18-24 admitting to using their phone while they are driving and that younger people are believing that using a phone while driving is considered normal.  The group with the highest proportion of distracted drivers are under the age of 20 showing the widespread problem.

This source is reliable for younger drivers due to the use of government websites and trusted news sites to find all the information. I have seen many people using their phone while driving so I know how widespread this problem really is. Due to the use of trusted websites, my poster and information is very reliable.

I know that a large reduction in fatal or no fatal crashes would not be achieved by this one poster. But if I were to help educate a few people with my poster, I may be able to stop a future crash fatal or non – fatal. But off course it would be great if I were able to greatly reduce the amount of fatalities if this poster is put in a lot of places.

A poster which delivers the message quickly and easily and then a further fact page below with more information so people that want more information and are interested can look at the fact page.

I feel like the best way to persuade is both emotionally and factually. My first page is supposed to be more emotion than facts hitting my audience. I have included some statistics but I will put a picture of a car crash and have maybe about 1 statistic in a slogan. This will help to appeal to their emotions and to their logic allowing me a better chance to persuade them to change a habit. I do not want many words because I feel like an audience like me would not be very bothered to read much about the topic and a look and go is something that I wanted.

My slogan, 60 metres away, 1 text message means that only one text message is 60 metres of driving and that it can leave you in a crash. I believe that it is short and sharp making it easy for lazy younger audiences to read and it ties in well with the image. This is because one of the main reason people are distracted are because they are texting someone or looking at a text message.

This is going to be a very realistic poster, so it will be a show of reality. It will not be very funny because this is a serious topic and it has to be shown realistically. It shows the consequences of being distracted while driving and it shows the very dangerous consequence of getting hurt or killed.

E-portfolio

I learnt the importance of keeping your eyes on the road. Even when yo are driving slowly and you look at your phone, you can still drive 60 metres which could kill you. I learnt that this problem is becoming more and more widespread and that around 30% of fatal accidents occurring now are as a result of distractions which are mostly occurring due to phone notifications.

This problem is becoming more and more widespread as the younger generation are becoming more connected to their phone and as social media is trying to get the most view time, people will look at their phone, even more, every notification instead of ignoring it. As said before, 94% of young adults are using their phones while driving and it is becoming so widespread that this age group now believes that it’s normal. This is something we have to change or else the amount of distracted driver crashes will only increase.

I will make sure that I am not distracted by my phone and I will not be distracted by incoming notifications. I will try to make sure that other people don’t look at their phone while driving if I am sitting in their car and they are changing music or texting, I will ask them to stop. I will play my part in keeping WA roads as safe as possible.
