Drama Reflection – Illuminate Festival 2022

Explain how you came up with your performance idea. What inspired you?

My group and I were given multiple different stories to choose from, mostly folk stories from other countries. We read through and decided the story ‘Baba Yaga’ was best suited to our group.

Did you have any issues to overcome during this process?

We had some issues getting started and getting a plan together. We were also having some problems thinking of the end goal in mind.

What would you do differently next time?

I would try and get on the task straight away and ask for help earlier so less time was wasted.

How did you use critical thinking during this task?

We analysed the different stories of Baba Yaga and created our own version that was very similar. We left some things out and added our own things to the story. We worked through the sequence of the story, so it made sense to the viewer and was easy to narrate and puppet.

How did you collaborate and communicate with each member during this process?

We didn’t need to communicate after class, as we were efficient with getting all the work done in class. We were respectful and clear when communicating with each other, which helped create a really good product.

Did you show leadership skills or resilience during this task?

I think our group showed very good leadership skills, there was an even distribution of work, and we were very resilient.

Were you and your group organised?

Yes, we were pretty organised, we did a lot in class, so no work was required to be done outside of class. We also designated one person to be in charge of puppets so that they wouldn’t get lost.
