Health Expedition – Wellbeing 2023

Tyler, Maya, Flick and I created a boxing expedition stall to demonstrate and remind people that it is essential to always take time for yourself and keep active, as physical activity can benefit everyone’s mental wellbeing.

This is the poster that we presented our audience/s with at our expedition stall.

What were the most significant things you learned while completing this task?

While researching, I learned of how many mental benefits there are to physical activity. Boxing, in particular, is a very aggressive activity, consisting of punching for a long period of time. Boxing releases endorphins that make you feel satisfied, and it allows you to forget any burdens you may have while you box.

In regard to our presentation, I learnt that communication always is essential to a productive and organised project. Everyone on your team must always be on the same page and always have access to your documents.

What one piece of advice would you give to young people in regard to wellbeing?

One piece of advice I would give to young people is to always allow time for yourself, even if it means being a little selfish. Especially in school/work environments, not many people realise how busy your workload can get. This is why it is important to take a step back and do things you love, like listening to music, reading, watching movies, running, or even cooking.

Write down a pledge that you will make in regard to your own well-being. Why did you pick these things? How will you commit to them?

I will make a pledge to always make sure I can balance my workload and time for myself. I chose this specific pledge because I find I can get really overloaded with school, commitments and extracurricular activities. I will commit to these by creating a self-care schedule, outlining the activities that I love doing, and making sure I can create a healthy balance within my life.
