capabilities

This year I did muir in semester one. it was one of the best experiences i have had in outdoor ed. muir helped bring up my leadership, organizational skills, and problem solving skills. all of these capabilities have taught me something that i know i will need for the future.

during our snorkelling experiences and excursions, i had many opportunities to use leadership opportinities. a few examples of the way i learned to use new leadership skills was that throughout the day of being in Rottnest, i helped getting everyone together so we could do the briefing to go out in the water. Another way i used leadership was that during school i also got everyone together and took control of a few things. collaboration, i feel that in our muir course our whole class had been very collaborative, i tried to help involve everyone in all the activities he had done, i also tried to bring people in with the activities that we had been doing and if they look left out or feel left out i tried to bring them in with the activities we were doing. I feel like in the course i couldv tried to pair up with a different person for each activity, because i mainly went with the 1 person the whole time. problem solving, during the course of muir, i tried to problem solve the best i could, i probably could have tried a little harder, because when things got to hard i kind of gave up and didn’t try anymore, but if i did try a little harder it would’ve worked or i would’ve got what i was doing right. at the start of the term i forgot too bring a rashie, problem solved by using my sport short it wasn’t the best solution but it worked for that day. Over all i could’ve problem solved a little better or tried a little better but at the end of the day it worked out in the end . my organisational skills this term were not that great, at the start of the snorkelling course I forgot to bring a rashie and i also forgot a few weeks after aswell, but throughout the course it got better at organising things the night before and brought everything i needed for us to go out to our excursions. When we got close to going to rottnest i was pretty organised, i brought the main things that i needed (water, food towels).

A the end of the course i had learned many new skills and i have also developed more skills over time. i feel like it has taught me more skills and basic things i need in my life as i grow older.
