FORM

FORM is an organisation that provides and funds programs encouraging skills in creative thinking and learning. In October 2022, my sister and I were approached for a performance opportunity at the FORM gallery & cafe in Claremont. The whole purpose of the performance was to raise funds to build a shelter over the FORM cafe, which in effect would encourage more people to come and socialise without getting beaten by sun, rain or any other inconvenient weather factors. The performance would be simple, a lineup of 3 performers who would entertain and encourage the guests to donate their money towards he organisation. FORM is one of the few non-profit galleries/cafe in the state, focused on developing a vibrant, creative economy for the wellbeing of Western Australian communities, which is why my sister and myself were interested in contributing.

For the few weeks leading up to the performance, my sister and I experimented with different set variations, even incorporating unfamiliar and interesting components such as looping, percussion etc. I think that throughout the whole process of planning my sister and I did communicate better to past projects as we both agreed on the general vibe and concept of our set list. For the finalised product, we decided to play:

-Put Your Records On by Corinne Bailey Rae

-An Original Composition – by myself

-A Viva La Vida/As It Was mashup – Coldplay, Harry Styles

The atmosphere of the performance was incredible. It was one of those warmer spring nights, where my sister and I just got up and played what we had prepared. The audience absolutely loved the vibe, as we did as-well. I am glad that I was involved in this project, being able to perform in such an incredible space.
