Wind Waves Water – Aquatics Study’s

In wind waves water we do a number of different water activities like sailing, stand-up paddle boarding, diving, and synchronized swimming. We also learn about how to be sustainable with water efficiency, energy efficiency, waste efficiency, and food production and learn about the concept leave no trace. We mainly focused on water efficiency as this is a aquatic study.

Here are my defines on, water efficiency, energy efficiency, waste efficiency, and food production:

Water Efficiency: Water efficiency is the practice of reducing water consumption by measuring the amount of water required for a particular purpose.

Energy Efficiency: Energy efficiency is the use of less energy to perform the same task.

Waste Efficiency: Waste efficiency is the use of the right bin system.

Food Production: A system of production using processes that is non-polluting, conserve non-renewable energy and use natural resources.

In my household, I do a couple of things to ensure that I am being sustainable when it comes to water, but there are problem more things I could do. When I use my tap to wash my hand or fill my water bottle up, I make sure that it is turned off when I’m done and that it is not dripping. My dad will also make sure that there are no leeks which water can get out of, by doing this we are stopping un nursery water from escaping. But there are quite a few things that I could start to do like when I have showers, they can range from 7-15 minutes which is wasting lots of my water I could start to have showers for only 5 minutes instead to cut my water use. I also have quite a lot of plants in my house that requires quite a lot of water to keep them alive so I thought that when I have baths, I can use the water from them to water my plants which will mean that I won’t have to get more water from the tap. Doing these things will improve my water efficiency.

We have also learned about leave no trace and how we can apply it to our daily lives. As this is a aquatic studies we going in the water a lot and some of the water we go in have reefs in it and fish so we have to make sure that we are being careful. We do this by making sure that we apply sunscreen 20 min before we go in the water so that it has absorbed in to our skin and doesn’t come off in the water. We also make sure that we don’t disturb the marine life by not toughing it and staying at a safe distance. Doing these things help to protect our oceans from damages that we can course.
