Illuminate- Dance

For our Year 8 transition night, we made a dance. We looked really goofy.

To create this dance we had to spend around 10 lessons working on making this dance perfect for the concert. We had a few interruptions like the athletics carnival and the queen’s death. I was nervous when I learned that we had to perform in front of everyone. But once we progressed with the dance I was less scared about performing.

I think that I did ok in the dance performance. The most challenging thing about it was staying still when I had to. Performing on the common was difficult because of the way we faced the sun was in our eyes

Making the dance was fun, we made the tutting part first in small groups and expanded it into whole-group tutting. next, we made the dolls and all the movements that were shown at the start. Then, we made the running up the tree with Eden. The week before the transition night we added all of the ribbons and put it all together. The rehearsal before the night was really exciting but I was really nervous because we were going to be performing in front of a lot of people, but when we rehearsed with the other class I was less scared because there were a lot more people in the other class. The structure of the dance was binary because it had two parts to the dance. The frist part was more sharp and the second part was flowy and more chill.

I believe that the group performed pretty well. The overall performance i think went really well, we really collaborated and the dance came together nicely. Performing out on the common was worse than performing on the stage because the sun was in our eyes and there were alot of distractions on the common compared to the stage were there would be no distractions. With doing this semeseter of dance i learnt a set of skills that i can take on with me for the rest of my life is teamwork and collaboration.
