Enterprise Involvements

In recent years, I have been heavily involved in the College’s enterprise activities and initiatives. I have been part of Runway since early 2021 and have been influential in all of its’ working in that time such as being able to pioneer the first Fremantle market. This has been a medium for me to demonstrate many of my skills and work with many students and staff in optimising the enterprise sector of All Saints’. I have also been part of the very beginning of the Runway and Junior School integration for enterprise as part of Business Buddies which recognised my efforts and extended an opportunity to present at a teacher’s conference under the guidance of Ms (Kylie) Chatto. I have been involved in enterprise during earlier years during the Innovat(ED) class where I had the chance to closely work with Amana Living in creating a new catered program for residents. This was a great opportunity for me to work on creating under an original idea and participate in the creative and problem-solving process.

I have provided many services while working in enterprise for the College and evidence of this can be seen today. I have been part of the reinstatement and re-establishment of Runway and restarting of all the activities that had been postponed indefinitely due to COVID. I have been part of the select few who have been handed over the responsibilities associated with Runway when Ms Strentz moved to The Studio School and have been capable of handling my roles. My service also involves being part of Business Buddies and mentoring many of them now and 2021’s Year 6s in starting their involvements with Runway and earning the enterprise and innovative experience. I have been quite involved in the ways the Runway sets up and organises their Wanju markets and am currently working with the team to organise the markets for 2022 and soon hand over my responsibilities. I have been very committed to my enterprise and still am. I am sure to be in attendance at all my meetings and am quick in correspondence with all relevant communications. I have been able to partake to such a degree while maintaining many other things in my life and school presence.

The aforementioned responsibilities and opportunities have fostered many soft and hard skills which have expanded to many aspects of my life. Entering the enterprise work in the middle of COVID meant that there were so many new and unique obstacles we had to problem-solve such as preparing alternatives to in-person markets for when parents were not allowed on campus. This time also meant there was much more student agency in the decisions that Runway made which was a perfect opportunity to figure out how to effectively lead in real-world situations. Being placed in a commercial and business setting such as handling Runway allowed me to improve my interpersonal skills in both communicating with customers as well as the businesses themselves. I am much more confident in my capabilities in professional settings through my involvement within Runway and the enterprise team as a whole.
