Mr. Ben Morton,

I am writing to inform you about a proposal I would like to make. I feel that the Tangney region does not have enough free outdoor recreational activities, available for children and adolescent’s people. I would like to see more outdoor adventure parks, skate parks, sport courts and more. I know that this is an important element that should be included in the Tangney community as it creates an inclusive and encouraging environment within community. The main reason why we need more recreational activities available is because of the growing rate of obesity and crime. Therefore, by having facilities available in multiple locations all around the Tangney region we would be attracting young people to go to the spaces provided instead of being attracted to common negative habits.

With crime and obesity at the front of the community we need to make a change. It is confronting to face these issues and concerns therefore instead of stopping the problems abruptly we should create change and new mindsets as well hobbies easily available for these young people. A sense of community Is extremely important, and it can be created by community recreational facilities, as it provides a space for people to go and connect as well as grow skill to reach out and create friends other then the ones that they see at school. While they are outside encouraging healthy habits such as exercise and good communication all while having fun with friends.

The prosses of building large outdoor facilities is obviously long but could potentially be staggered of multiple years. A regular playground would cost approximately $150,000 to build, the price listed above is the cost of a good quality playground that would be suitable for young children about 2-12 years of age. A concrete outdoor skate park costs approximately $500,000 or $10,000 per square foot. Another possible facility that could be implemented in Tangney could be a tennis a tennis court would cost approximately $45,000 to build. Thank you very much Mr Morton for taking the time to read this letter and I hope to see these plans in the future.

Yours faithfully Ebonnie Knight, year 8 Student at All Saints’ College.
