Happy Socks Day – 2020

Within the Stirling house council, we needed to come up with a fundraiser for the year that couldn’t be affected by COVID-19 in any way. Hence we couldn’t do the annual Stirling bake sale, which was disappointing however we could now use new ideas. As this was my first year on the house council I wanted to help out as much as possible to fulfil my role, so I whilst brainstorming I came up with the idea of Happy Socks Day for Beyond Blue. Meaning that the whole of senior school can participate by wearing colourful socks and brining in a gold coin donation, then becoming aware of the importance of positive mental health. Beyond Blue provides information and support to help everyone in Australia achieve their best possible mental health, whatever their age and wherever they live, and we wanted to help them on this mission.

The next step in the process was to let the school know about it so I created a poster to put up around the school, and spoke at chapel.

On the day of the fundraiser there was a great turn out, majority of the students were in colourful socks and lots of donations were made.
