Recently I took part in the planning of the 2020 year 9 social. As I am a house councillor, it is my role to take part in the organisation of events like this for my grade. At first, we all had a meeting together to discuss what we wanted to do for it, ideas came up such as a disco, beach-themed, under the sea…. Also, other things that needed to be planned such as food, drinks, decorations. We wrote a list and then narrowed it down to what we felt the grade would enjoy the most. Being a disco with pizza and glow sticks, and we would use the sparkly decorations from previous school events. Then the lighting and music would be done by the tech team that does the dance concert lighting.

On the day of the dance, we all left period 6 to help decorate. We sorted through the box of decorations and decided on the few that we thought matched and would look the best with the lighting. After we worked together to put everything in place, and sort out the glow sticks for people to easily access.

The social itself was so much fun, and I really enjoyed dancing away with my friends. I’m looking forward to doing things like this in the future.
