Environmental Artworks Project 2020

Within InnovatED we got the chance to create any project that we wanted, so I decided to create an environment based project as I wanted to raise awareness within my school and community. For my group’s project idea, we collected rubbish from our target audiences being the junior school, and make artworks out of it. Within the artwork, there will be a message directed to the All Saints community to make them more environmentally cautious. So as well as clearing up rubbish, we also helped people think about the environment and the impact they have on it more often. Some examples of the rubbish we got them to bring in included cardboard, plastics, milk bottles, plastic straws, plastic bottles and Woollies and Coles collectables.

To get the junior school to participate we interviewed 3 students from each year 5 & 6 class.

  • What do you know about plastics?
  • What do you think plastic does to the environment?
  • What does this picture make you feel?
  • How do you think that this occurred in the first place?
  • Would you participate in this project?
  • What would you like as a prize to bring in plastics? *freddo frogs

The answers from these questions gave us the basis for our project, therefore we could properly get started.

This was the project plan/ outline:

This was the poster that we put up around the most used junior school areas to make sure the remembered.
This was the poster we had at our stall, so everyone who came past it had the basic ideas of what we were doing, therefore if they were interested they could ask us questions or look more at the items we had on display.

Overall this project was super fun and I felt like I could do something for a cause I’m passionate about. The final result I’m happy with as we collaborated really well, and put a lot of time and effort into it. If I got to do this project again I would try to improve our time management skills and record the steps we took as time went on.
